Decentralized finance (DeFi) platform, Uniswap, has introduced its mobile Ethereum wallet for Android, following its iOS release several months ago.
The wallet is currently in its beta testing phase, with the broader user community invited to participate in its refinement. Uniswap’s Twitter indicates an existing waitlist of 35,000 users.
As part of this launch, Uniswap Labs will open-source the wallet’s code for a Trail of Bits audit. Trail of Bits is a cybersecurity firm known for its blockchain auditing and development of Web3 tools to identify and rectify code vulnerabilities.
Bridgett Frey, a spokesperson for Uniswap Labs, explained that the beta launch on Android is designed to iron out any potential issues as new users are onboarded. A wider release is anticipated before the year ends.
The new wallet touts features that the Uniswap team believes will significantly enhance the user experience. These include rapid swaps, easy discovery of new tokens, transparent pricing, automatic switching between blockchain mainnets and layer-2 scaling networks, and protection against sandwich and frontrunning attacks.
The wallet’s launch on Android comes six months after its successful debut on Apple’s iOS platform, which saw it become a top-three download within its launch month. Uniswap Labs aims to build on this success with the Android launch, given the platform’s global user base.
