PubKey, the only Bitcoin bar in New York City, is celebrating its first anniversary in October. Located at 85 Washington Pl. in Greenwich Village, this unique establishment offers more than just drinks and pub food. It serves as an immersive Bitcoin community where locals and tourists come together for discussions on digital assets, educational content creation, and community-building meetups.
PubKey aims to create an inclusive environment, welcoming a diverse range of patrons. The bar features a “Buy Bitcoin” sign, subtly hinting at its unique identity. Despite being a Bitcoin-focused bar, PubKey is open to everyone, regardless of their interest in cryptocurrency.
The concept of community lies at the core of PubKey. Co-owner Pacchia drew inspiration from the historical role of pubs in fostering social interactions and community during the American Revolution. Recognizing the limitations of social media platforms in discussing complex topics like Bitcoin, PubKey offers a more approachable setting for people to engage in meaningful conversations. It provides an alternative to exclusive and intimidating Bitcoin conferences, creating a space where newcomers can feel comfortable and learn.
As PubKey reaches its one-year milestone, it continues to serve as a gathering place for Bitcoin enthusiasts.
