Polygon Hit by Node Bug, Disrupts Finality and RPC Services

Polygon, one of the leading Ethereum scaling solutions, faced a temporary disruption in consensus finality on Wednesday after a bug was discovered in its Bor and Erigon nodes. According to an official incident report published on the network’s status page, the glitch led to delays in finality, which in turn impacted Remote Procedure Call (RPC) services and validator syncing.

The incident began early Wednesday and quickly caused interruptions for several RPC providers, leading to access issues for decentralized applications built on Polygon. While the blockchain itself remained live and continued producing blocks, the bug forced many validators and service providers to rewind to the last finalized block and resynchronize their systems.

As a temporary measure, restarting the affected nodes has restored normal operations for some validators and RPC providers. “We see that a restart of nodes has fixed the issues for many validators and RPC providers,” the Polygon team stated in its report.
