According to a recent financial disclosure form, former president and potential 2024 Republican frontrunner, Donald Trump, holds between $250,000 and $500,000 in a cryptocurrency wallet. The wallet is connected to a line of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) that Trump’s campaign launched during his 2024 bid to return to the White House.
These NFTs feature illustrations of Trump in various roles were initially sold for $99 each. Despite his ownership of a crypto wallet, Trump has a history of critical remarks about cryptocurrencies, including calling Bitcoin a “scam.”
He has expressed a preference for fiat currency, stating that he wants the dollar to remain the world’s currency. This contrasts with some Republican lawmakers who have embraced cryptocurrency technology and pushed for regulation in Congress. Trump’s aversion to crypto seems to be at odds with the pro-crypto stances taken by some of his GOP rivals for the 2024 presidential race.
