Jonathan Mann, the “Song-a-Day” artist, recently released a single titled “Craig Wright Is Not Satoshi,” inspired by the long-standing controversy over the true identity of Bitcoin’s creator.
Australian computer scientist Craig Wright has been striving, albeit unsuccessfully, to establish himself as Satoshi Nakamoto, the pseudonymous inventor of Bitcoin. This contentious claim has now been turned into a catchy tune by Mann on Tuesday.
The song’s upbeat chorus emphatically asserts, “Craig Wright is not Satoshi,” and brands Wright as a liar. Mann, recognized for his everyday songwriting streak of 15 years, which has earned him a Guinness World Record, has been selling his daily songs via NFTs for the past few years.
The latest song, centered on Wright’s disputed Bitcoin legacy, was also on sale as a one-of-a-kind NFT. Following four bids, it was auctioned off on Wednesday for 0.12 ETH, equivalent to just over $198 at the time.
The drama surrounding Wright’s Satoshi claim was reignited this week when the ‘@satoshi’ X (Twitter) account posted for the first time in five years. Notably, Christian Ager-Hanssen, the ex-CEO of nChain, Wright’s blockchain firm, denounced the tweet as another meritless impersonation attempt by Wright.
