Happy Wednesday, fellow AI adventurers!

Welcome to another exciting edition of our weekly AI adventure.

We’ve sprinkled a dash of fun and a pinch of wit into our AI exploration, so prepare to be simultaneously educated and entertained.

AI Art: The New “Picture” Problem

From deepfakes to AI stealing artists’ thunder, the world of artificial intelligence is causing quite a stir. The White House even feels the need to get involved, scripting an executive order to “keep Americans safe” from AI artwork. Yes, apparently AI art is now a matter of life and death…

But there are a couple of exciting initiatives that could help tackle this predicament.

Let’s start with C2PA, a tool that uses the power of cryptography to tag content created by AI. Think of it as a blue-tick verification for images. Adobe, being the genius it is, has already incorporated C2PA into Photoshop and Firefly.

The catch? It’s an “opt-in” tool, so most images out there still remain a mystery in terms of AI involvement.

Then there’s Photoguard, the superhero tool that “protects” original images from being repurposed by AI.

A brilliant team at MIT discovered a way to tweak an image’s pixels so that sneaky diffusion models (like Stable Diffusion) can’t recognize them. Currently, it’s all code, but imagine the possibilities if companies integrate Photoguard’s API to help artists safeguard their masterpieces from AI prying eyes.

OpenAI Sets the Stage for GPT-5!

OpenAI might just be gearing up for another mind-blowing release. According to a recent Reddit post, OpenAI has filed a trademark application for “GPT-5,” hinting at the arrival of their next-generation language model.

The application, submitted to the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) on July 18, specifies that “GPT-5” will be a downloadable computer software for utilizing this powerful language model.

Now, if you’re familiar with OpenAI’s previous trademark filings, you’ll notice a pattern. They’ve used similar descriptions for previous models like GPT-4 and GPT-3.5, making this application even more intriguing.

Don’t forget to check us out on Wednesdays for all the latest AI news – because why limit yourself to just one kind of intelligence?
