Soon after the Arkham’s marketplace’s grand unveiling, Twitter users donned their detective hats and discovered a peculiar flaw in Arkham’s referral link system. 🔍
It turns out that appended data from the referral links led to a shocking revelation – by plugging the information into a Base64 decoder, the Twitter sleuths could unveil the full email addresses of the posters. 😮
To verify these claims, the insightful folks at Blockworks decided to put them to the test.
They took various referral links, including one from back in December 2022, and fed them into a Base64 decoder, only to have them spit out full email addresses. 🔎
Not content with just exposing the flaw, some Twitter users even generated fake referral links to poke fun at Arkham. You wouldn’t believe the email addresses they came up with, including “elon@spacex.com” and “SamBankman-Fried@ftexchange.com”.

Last month, Apple raised its eyebrows and threatened to kick the Bitcoin-friendly Damus app out of its App Store for allowing users to tip each other with Bitcoin, which Apple deemed equivalent to selling digital assets.
Damus creator, William Casarin, eventually relented and removed the ability to send zaps on specific content, but users could still tip each other at the profile level. It seemed like the standoff had reached its end. 🔄
Just a mere two weeks after Casarin’s concession, a dynamic duo of independent Bitcoin developers, Ben Carman and Paul Miller, stepped up with a clever workaround.

Yup, you heard it right, colors!
🎨 And the best part? You can convert them back to your original seed whenever you need to. Now, let’s talk about BIP39. It’s a standard method for generating your seed phrase, which contains all the necessary info to create your private key and access your Bitcoin wallet.
The idea behind using words instead of complicated strings is to make it easier for people to recover their crypto if they ever lose their wallet device. Instead of dealing with a jumble of characters, you get a list of readable words. But here’s the downside: a sheet of paper with a bunch of words kind of screams “CRYPTO!” if someone stumbles upon it.
That’s where BIP39Colors comes to the rescue. Instead of words, you can store your private key as a beautiful palette of colors. Imagine labeling it as “my new home wall colors” or hiding it inside a styles.css file on your website.
Sneaky, right? The colors generated by this tool are represented as hex color codes, which are six-digit codes that can depict virtually any color.
